Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026. This policy explains what Sapientia Foundation collects, why, and how we protect it.

What we collect

Workshop and clinic sign-ins. When you attend, we may collect your name, contact information, ZIP code, and referral source so we can follow up and report aggregate attendance to funders.

Pre- and post-surveys. Voluntary questions about what you learned and your situation, used to measure whether the program works. Survey results are analyzed in aggregate.

Self-help tool usage. The Credit Dispute Center stores your information, notes, and letters only in your own web browser (local storage). We do not receive or keep that information. If you choose to upload a credit report PDF for analysis, it is processed once in server memory to extract text and is never written to any database, file, or log.

Website analytics. Basic, aggregate usage data (pages visited, general location, device type). We do not use this to identify you.

Why we collect it

To deliver and improve the program, to follow up with participants who ask us to, to measure outcomes, to report aggregate results to funders and the public, and to meet our record-keeping obligations.

What we never do

We never sell your information. We never share it with lenders, insurers, credit bureaus, debt collectors, or other third parties for their own use. We do not use it for lead generation. There is no lender or product sponsorship of this program.

Who sees it

Foundation staff and trained educators who need it to run the program. Service providers that host our website and email operate under confidentiality obligations. We may disclose information if required by law.

How long we keep it

Participant contact and survey records are kept for the period required by our records-retention schedule (generally the current year plus seven years for financial and grant-related records, shorter for casual inquiries), then securely destroyed. Data you keep in your own browser is under your control; clearing your browser storage deletes it.

Your choices

You can attend workshops without giving contact information. Surveys are optional. To see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, email [email protected] or write to PO Box 143, Woodbridge, VA 22194. We will respond within 45 days.

Children

The program is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes

We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date above.
